30. What crimes in my criminal record can affect my ability to obtain a licence? The VBON has issued guidelines on the impact of criminal conviction history on regulatory filings pursuant to state law, Virginia Code Section 54.1-3007, and care regulations. VBON may refuse to admit a candidate to an examination or refuse to issue a licence or certificate to a candidate with certain criminal convictions. In the event that a physician serving as a physician on the patient care team dies, becomes disabled, withdraws from active practice, renounces his or her licence or has it suspended or revoked by the board of directors, or moves his or her practice so that he or she is no longer able to serve and a nurse is unable to: Enter into a new contract of practice with another physician on the patient care team, The nurse may continue to practise after the commissioner or his assistant has been advised by the boards of directors and received such notice.
